Major Southern metropolitan center, Atlanta, has come a long way in the last century, now a sprawling urban hub home to several universities, an expansive list of cultural sights and a well-rounded range of boutiques, bars and eateries.
The Northeast Georgia Master Gardeners have been hard at work developing the Hart County Botanical Garden. The project was the vision of Anne King, a member of the first Hart County Master Gardeners class in 1997. The Garden will povide not only a place of natural beauty for the enjoyment of visitors but also educational opportunities as an outdoor classroom. Area schools, the FFA and 4H organizations will use the garden in their ongoing study of trees and plants. Tthe Garden has a Garden Pavilion which is available for use by the people of Hart and surrounding counties. Arrangements may be made by contacting the Hart County Extension office @ 706-376-3134. The pavilion was constructed in partnership with the Hart County Rotary Club. The Botanical Garden will also have a Children's Garden and a Memorial Garden. Anyone wishing to donate a memorial planting may do so. Please see the Memorial Garden page for details. The Children's Garden activity area was furnished by the Hartwell Kiwanis Club and the area plantings were furnished by Faith Lutheran Church. The entrance is graced by a water fountain donated by St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
