One of the Southeast's largest lakes, Lake Hartwell covers 56,000 acres at normal pool (660 feet mean sea level) and offers a variety of outdoor recreation opportunities, including swimming, picnicking, camping, fishing and boating along its 962 miles of shore line.

Interpretive center is a great stop for kids and families. Enjoy a panoramic view of Lake Hartwell and the Savannah River from atop the dam. Walking along the dam is a favorite local activity for locals and visitors alike.

To the right of this amazing dam, along the Savannah River, is one of Hartwell's newest attractions the Hartwell Dam Fishing Pier. This pier is free and open to the public.
