In addition to miles of sand fringed with beach grass and cooled by salt breezes, Cumberland Island National Seashore is the spot to star-gaze, hike meandering trails, bird-watch and catch cultural sights, all within easy reach of the Landmark Historic District of Jekyll Island, to the north.
Heritage Park is 364 acres of attractive park setting with woods, creeks, and the Appalachee River. It currently serves the county needs for passive park space. The large open air arena at Heritage Park was created with agricultural and special events in mind. The newly completed barn has thirty-one stalls and a small show arena. There are separate wash racks for animal shows or rodeos. Even if you do not have an event in mind, the park is a quiet place to take a relaxing walk on the 2.5 miles of walking trails, a challenging bike excursion on the 4.1 miles of bike trails, a family picnic or just a place to breathe in fresh country air. The park also features a recently restored historic wood cabin. There is free and ample parking to visitors of the park. Are you looking for a place to hold your next birthday party, meeting or family reunion? You should consider Heritage Park! Call (706) 769-3965 for more information.
