Description

Wiggling along the western border of South Carolina, the Savannah River Scenic Byway takes an easy ride through farmlands, forests, and antiquated townships teeming with character. On its way, it passes through McCormick and Willington, offering a charming stopover for history buffs and antique hunters.

The Savannah River Scenic Byway begins nine miles north of the Georgia/South Carolina border, and follows Routes 28N, 187N, 24W to Oakway.

There are countless ways to savor the bounty of recreational excitement that this region has to offer. Bisecting Hickory Knob State Park and Sumter National Forest, the Byway is never far from a harvest of sporty fun. It's also within close proximity to J. Strom Thurmond Lake and the Savannah River. As a result, there's a feast of swimming, boating, fishing and camping pleasures here!
