In addition to miles of sand fringed with beach grass and cooled by salt breezes, Cumberland Island National Seashore is the spot to star-gaze, hike meandering trails, bird-watch and catch cultural sights, all within easy reach of the Landmark Historic District of Jekyll Island, to the north.
Georgia's first 100% Fair Trade, organic coffee roastery is located near downtown Americus and welcomes the public for tours, a relaxing visit to its adjacent coffee house or an opportunity to "cup" some of its gourmet, organic coffees. Like a wine tasting for coffees, Cafe Campesino's coffee cupping is an opportunity to smell, taste, study and explore specialty-grade, organic coffees that are grown in more than 10 countries around the world and roasted right here in Georgia. Visitors who are interested in a more relaxing experience can enjoy light food items made fresh by a local baker, as well as smoothies, coffee by-the-cup and espresso-based beverages. Cafe Campesino's weekly cupping takes place adjacent to its Americus coffeeshop every Friday at 11 a.m. Roastery tours can be scheduled in advance for large groups or provided last minute for smaller groups as staffing permits. Freshly roasted coffee by the pound is also available for take-home.
